Signs you've got squirrels

  1. Noises in the loft

Thumping, scratching or scurrying overhead, usually early in the morning and around dusk, when squirrels are most active.

  2. Chewed timbers and cables

Gnawed roof timbers, insulation, pipes and electrical cables in the loft.

  3. Nesting material

Shredded insulation, leaves and twigs bundled into a nest (called a drey) in the loft or eaves.

  4. Damage outside

Holes in fascias, soffits or roof edges, and squirrels seen running along the roofline.

Why it's worth acting fast

Squirrels gnaw constantly, and chewed electrical cables in a loft can be a fire risk. They can also damage insulation, timbers and water tanks.

Grey squirrels are an invasive species, and the law doesn't allow one that's been caught to be released back into the wild. That's why squirrel control is a job for a professional.

How we raid squirrels

  1. Raid.

Your Raider inspects the loft and roofline, finds how the squirrels are getting in, and gives you a free quote.

  2. Remove.

Happy with the price? We deal with the squirrels using legal, professional methods that suit your home.

  3. Relax.

We look at proofing the entry points so new squirrels can't move in. If they come back, so do we, at no extra cost.

What to do right now

Do

  • Note when you hear the noises and where
  • Check the loft for chewed cables, carefully and only if it's safe
  • Trim back branches that touch the roof

Don't

  • Don't block the entry hole while squirrels are inside
  • Don't try to trap and release them yourself, it's not allowed for grey squirrels
  • Don't put down poison

Squirrels: your questions answered

They're not usually aggressive, but the damage they cause can be. Chewed cables, damaged insulation and water tanks can all lead to bigger problems.

Not grey squirrels. They're an invasive species, and releasing one that's been caught is against the law. Your Raider will explain the options.

By finding and proofing the gaps they're using, once the squirrels are gone. Your Raider will show you what needs doing.

Early morning and late afternoon. Lofts get busiest in autumn and winter, and again in spring when females look for somewhere to have their young.
